One of the things we love most about being based here on the Fylde coast is the sheer variety of beautiful settings within a few miles of each other — dramatic cliffs, Victorian piers, ornamental gardens, sweeping beaches and historic landmarks. When clients ask where their photos could be taken, we're always spoilt for choice. Here's a tour of some of our favourite local backdrops and what makes each one special.
Bispham Cliffs
Right on our doorstep, the cliffs at Bispham offer something rare along this largely flat shoreline: height, drama and sweeping sea views. The clifftop promenade and open horizon make for striking, spacious portraits, particularly glowing in late-afternoon light, and away from the bustle of Blackpool's busier seafront.
Lytham Windmill & Lytham Green
The iconic windmill on Lytham Green is one of the most recognisable landmarks on the whole coast and a beautiful anchor for a photoshoot. The wide green and gentle estuary views give a relaxed, genteel feel that suits family sessions and couples alike.
St Annes Pier & the dunes
The elegant Victorian pier brings timeless seaside character, while the soft sand dunes just behind the beach create a beautifully textured, intimate setting. Together they offer several distinct looks in a single location.
Fairhaven Lake
A little inland from the seafront, Fairhaven Lake offers calm water, gardens and open paths — a lovely greener option, and a welcome alternative on those breezier days when the open beach feels a touch too wild.
Stanley Park, Blackpool
Away from the seafront, Stanley Park is one of Blackpool's hidden gems — Italian gardens, a boating lake, mature trees and elegant architecture. Perfect when you want lush greenery and a sense of grandeur, with shelter from the coastal breeze.
Blackpool Promenade & the Comedy Carpet
For a bold sense of place, the famous promenade, Blackpool Tower and the Comedy Carpet deliver instantly recognisable, characterful backdrops. Early mornings are best for capturing the icons without the crowds.
Cleveleys & Mary's Shell
Just north of Bispham, Cleveleys offers a quieter, modern seafront and the much-loved Mary's Shell sculpture — a charming focal point and a gentle, relaxed stretch of coast.
The open beach at low tide
When the tide rolls out at Lytham and St Annes, it reveals vast, mirror-like stretches of sand — a stunning setting for airy, minimalist images with endless sky and beautiful reflections.
The seasons change everything
Part of the magic of the Fylde coast is how different these places feel through the year — golden summer evenings, moody autumn skies, crisp winter light and fresh spring mornings each bring something new. There's a beautiful version of every spot waiting in every season.
